Baja…… It’s been a chain reaction.

When I think about life it all comes back to the what ifs. This is because everything that happens has always involved the what if I had made the left turn rather than the right or I had been just 10 minutes earlier.

Baja has just been a fine example of that:

If I hadn’t decided to stop to take some photos at a winery then I wouldn’t have met Tae, Kary, Wilson and Kari.

If I hadn’t met them then I wouldn’t have gone camping with their family in the Sierra national park.

If I hadn’t gone camping then I’m not sure the direction I would have chosen.

I would mostly still have gone to Mikes Sky ranch but I would have been there a day or two earlier and not met a group of bikers from California doing a tour of Baja.

If I hadn’t met the group of bikers on tour then they wouldn’t have told me to check out a group of trail riders who were riding the full length of Baja off road.

If I hadn’t been told to check out a group of dirt bikers riding the full length of Baja off road then I wouldn’t have ended up in San Felipe on the day I did. I wouldn’t have met Jimmy the helicopter pilot or Eric the Overshot cameraman and the guy who co-owned the media company. And of course the team of around 60 people of riders, chase, and support all of who made up The Rip to Cabo.

If I hadn’t met with the Rip to Cabo then Jimmy wouldn’t have asked me to follow them and sleep next to the helicopter…… Of course I said yes.

(I was also told on many occasions throughout my time with the RIP “what else have you got to do”)

If I hadn’t said yes to Jimmy then I doubt I would have chosen the route I took.

If I hadn’t said yes then I wouldn’t have had such an amazing time with such a fantastic group of people over a week seeing some amazing scenery, being filmed from a helicopter having many laughs on every occasion. In all having a bloody good time making memories with strangers who I now call friends.

If I hadn’t said yes to joining the RIP I wouldn’t have been in Cabo San Lucas with them and nowhere near the same time as them.

If I wasn’t in Cabo with Rip to Cabo I wouldn’t have been invited to the post Rip to Cabo parties and been invited to the Monster Energy drink and Bud light parties.

If I hadn’t attended those parties then I wouldn’t have been introduced to the people organising the first ever BajaSur500.

If I hadn’t been introduced to the people organising the race then I wouldn’t have been invited to join them on the start and finish lines..

If I hadn’t been invited to the start and finish lines then I wouldn’t have been able to get some of the photos and join everyone on a private charter flight to Loreto where the Finish line was.

If I wasn’t on the flight I wouldn’t of had such an incredible time on the finish line watching the Trophy trucks, buggies, Bikes, Quads and atvs come in.

Now after the most intense few weeks I’m here alone staring at this computer trying to get some writing and photos into place
